UPDATE 8/28/09: The charity where the funds will be donated to been changed to the Tzu-Chi Foundation (慈濟) , a worldwide Buddhist organization based known for its worldwide relief efforts.

The purpose of this fundraising is to help the victims of Typhoon Morakot in Taiwan. There is a charity happy hour in DC for the evening of Friday 8/28 to benefit the typhoon victims in Taiwan. We are co-hosting this charity event with The DC/MD/VA Taiwan Meetup and several other groups.

Come mix and mingle and help a good cause! Donations are welcome and there will be a special drink you can purchase where proceeds will go towards the fund. 100% of the money we raise will go to American Red Cross, Disaster Relief Fund.

Time:

5:00 PM-9:00PM (come anytime)

地鐵:
Metro: Ballston stop, orange line. Then walk 3 blocks to the East (click blue location link above to see neighborhood map)

Happy Hour Items:

Draft Beer $2.50: Miller Lite, Bluemoon, Kirin, Magic Hat, Half price Sake (Hot & Cold)
Selected shooters $3
Nigiri Sushi $0.99/piece
$8.00 Special Taiwanese drinks (50 % of this drink sales will go directly to Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund)

Last summer we participated in two fundraiser dinners for the Sichuan Earthquake (one in MD and one in VA). Together, we raised a few thousand dollars. Now let's show some love for the people in southern Taiwan..

Looks like this is right across from Arlington Central Library. Convenient subway stops would be either Ballston or Virgina Square /GMU, both on the Orange Line. www.metroopensdoors.com
