中文學習小組 (中級到高級)

Anyone interested in forming an intermediate-to-advanced level study group that meets regularly ?

This is NOT a class. It is a lay-led, grass roots group of people who seriously study Chinese and want to form a study group. We want to aggressively improve our reading and learn more advanced terms. We'll work through materials together, but also each person needs to be able to put time in to study on his/her own between meetings.

We could focus on a particular series of books, study for one of the proficiency tests (such as the HSK), or read Chinese newspaper articles. We could meet once or twice a month and have a group of organizers who could rotate duties for leading meetings.
LEVEL: This is not for beginners. You should be able to read the equivalent of AT LEAST three semesters of college level Chinese.
To check if you're at the upper intermediate level , you should be able to recognize at least 7 of the underlined items below:

繁體字 (Traditional)
請說明你目標,我替你解決問題
這件事已經完成,但尚未沒通知他
老闆最近特別忙,忘了安排工人假期
中國政府進行了五年計劃

簡體字 (Simplified)
请说明你目标,我替你解决问题
这件事已经完成,但尚未没通知他
老板最近特别忙,忘了安排工人假期
中国政府进行了五年计划.

Let's meet on Dec. 6 to talk about what people want to study and how we want to organize things. Once we get a couple people interested in meeting we can firm up a time and place. It does not have to be in Teaism. If there's interest we could meet in suburban Maryland or Virginia, too.

Bring any material which you would like to use to study Chinese, especially if you have more advanced materials for studying newspaper reading, media, and the HSK 汉语水平考试 (see English Wiki) which is the test used in China for testing non-native's proficiency in Chinese. We'll discuss which materials we want to use, and whether we want to focus on simplified and/or traditional characters.

IMPORTANT*** Attendees are expected to purchase food or drink from the restaurant. The restaurant is overly gracious in making this space available to us. If we do not make purchases, the restaurant will not accommodate our group. The food is delicious and price is very reasonable. Come early, have lunch, and relax before the group meets.

Metro: Nearest Metro stop is Navy Memorial/National Archives station (Yellow/Green lines) or bus planner. Local map. Area parking is very limited. Metro/carpool is recommended.

Bring textbooks, printouts or Chinese learning materials that would be good for this group to study.

Note: if you are a beginner or intermediate-beginner that would like to form a similar study group at your level, please post a note on the Message Board.

如果漢語是您的母語也歡迎您參加這次活動! Native speakers who can share their knowledge are welcome to attend.

The first meeting is an organizational meeting to form the study group(s). To sign up, please RSVP Yes, then answer the 10 questions that follow. This is important to plan the study group. NO DROP-INS, please.

Before the first meeting, share your questions or ideas for what you'd be interested in studying in the "Talk About this Meetup" section below....
