i think the others should join this meetup group on the first month in August. It seems that alot new people show up this event to meet different people. i feel it is waste of time being in this group. this group more related to socialize instead practicing mandrain.

WoW! Fong, you really have a Great Group here! I learned a lot from watching your interactions with your group, from a Meetup Organizers standpoint. Well done my friend, very well done. All the members I spoke with were really nice, and I even learned to write a few words in Mandarin! Shokran! : )

Nice folks and a good turnout. A little chaotic though. Probably would be a good way to learn through conversation if I was more proficient. Not necessarily the greatest help for a beginner.

It is always very nice to meet somewhere and do something other than sit down... perhaps venues such as the American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitain Museum of Art (free-with-suggested-admission - you can pay ¢1- tour in Mandarin this Friday - 15/09/06), or Central Park... i.e. venues that permit a wider range of "oh, look at that..." and then ablity to say this in Mandarin... (which, obviously, I lack). Of course, just getting 30-odd people to St. Alp Teahouse is an incredible feat and I would not imagine it anything short of Herculean to get half as many to a museum or other locale!

    Aleksei on Feb 27, 2007.

  •  it may be just this event, but the m:f ratio was literally 10:1. I won't comment further on that, but it might be helpful to be aware of that for those who haven't been before and are planning on going.
