With this moving performance, New Yorkers have a rare
opportunity to see indigenous traditions from the spectacular
land of Yunnan, which borders Tibet, Burma, Laos and Vietnam.
Featured are fifteen dancers and musicians representing the Yi,
Naxi, Wa, Dai and Hani ethnic minorities in southwest China,
who will be touring the US for the first time. These master
artists, dressed in richly embroidered costumes, play a
fascinating array of stringed instruments, flutes and drums,
and perform stunning ritual dances. Co-presented with Asia
Society.
