Greeting all / Dajia Hao!

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival (zhongqiu jie), we’re going to try something different this year…like chartering a boat! Captain Jack will pilot us around Lake Lavon from 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM. With a little cooperation from the weather, we should enjoy great views of the moon while we eat our mooncakes.

$20 is all it takes to reserve your spot on the boat. It should be a great night with plenty of conversation, music, drinks, and whatever else you guys can think of. But don’t offend Captain Jack, or you’ll be tied to the anchor and tossed overboard! Arrrr!!!

Because chartering the boat requires a significant outlay of cash from your humble organizers, we need people to prepay for this event no later than September 29th. You can pay by cash or check using one of two methods:

• Pay in person at any event between now and September 29th
• Mail your check to me at 4114 Oberlin Way Addison, TX 75001

Note: if you’ve RSVP’d, but we have not received your payment by the deadline, we reserve the right to give your spot to the next paying customer.

Additionally, the organizers reserve the right to make adjustments to the RSVPs as we deem necessary. Members are limited to bringing one guest (unless you discuss it with Ben or me). This is for two reasons: we want to save space for as many members as possible, and also, because experience has shown “guest” RSVPs have a higher no-show rate. The bottom line is we want every seat on the boat filled so we can maximize the fun!

The boat will leave at 9:00 PM sharp, so don’t be late. Captain Jack says we are welcome to board his vessel prior to the scheduled departure time and start the party earlier. That’s what I plan to do. If the boat is away on an earlier charter, Captain Jack suggests we start the party on the dock.

The boat is equipped with a grill and an iPod compatible stereo system which also has satellite radio. This is BYOB – so bring your own drinks and some snacks if you want.
