The first meeup I attended noone spoke chinese and I was disappointed. This last one at Panda only a little chinese was spoken. I think people feel hesitate if they sit around people that don't speak. I definitely would like the next one to really focus on speaking chinese and if people don't understand, they will learn.

i would agree w/Bob. it was cool meeting people with the same interest. there could of been a lot more interaction in chinese though. somebody had a great idea (sorry can't remember your name). that is to set an amount of time to only speak chinese. this will allow people to both speak and listen...which is the main reason why we participate in the group isn't it? oh and thanks Matt for setting this up

This is my first Meet Up with the group -- happens to be very close to my house! Can anyone tell me how long meet ups usually last? (babysitting considerations) Thanks!

Yes, this restaurant has been around a looong time, but that's not necessarily a good thing. Are we sure this is real sichuan and not fake sichuan for whiteys?

I'm glad I came to this meetup. I think people broke into English a bit too much. But I guess that's how it goes. Thanks again to Matt for setting this up. Bob
    •  met some cool people. i was greeted in chinese and was barely able to respond. i need more interaction like this to really start to be able to use chinese. chris drove most of the conversation and kept people talking. Sheng had a good idea about keeping a diary to help with learning chinese characters. Tokyo Jim seemed quite interesting too. I'm glad i went ^_^. we all shared food.
    •  I had a great time meeting people and sharing travel experiences. The food was pretty good too.
