Just to get an idea if anyone is interested...i' d be happy to do a beading demonstration for a small supply fee (for the beads) of $5/person! I'll probably be at the Goldfish Cafe first doing my jewelry. So call me if you really plan on going! 916-214-6852! Thanks, Irene

Our first ever Chinese Movie Pot-Luck Night! How does watching Chinese movies at home with pot-luck style dishes sound? Here it is! Carolyn's Pad 7769 Park Village Rd San Diego, CA 92129 This event will be held at Carolyn's private home (she has a big TV). Please RSVP so she knows how many people to expect. Dinner @ 6:30 For those of you who have been living in caves and don't know what pot-luck means, please bring one of your favorite dishes to show off your culinary cooking skills (or cheat and go buy something). Movie @ 7:30 Since this is our first movie night, we start off with a very unusual Chinese movie. The movie takes place in Japan, but has three Chinese actresses. The whole movie is in English, with Chinese subtitles. In case you haven't guessed yet, its "Memories of a Geisha", Official site for the movie Memoirs of a Geisha starring Ziyi Zhang, Michelle Yeoh, and Ken Watanabe. Directed by Rob Marshall. Don't know if its released yet, but we'll watch it in typical chinese style. Feel free to bring your own DVDs and if we have time, we can watch something else or trade movies. http://www.sonypictu res.com/homevideo/me moirsofageisha/index .html Please donate $1 for our monthly dues...I forgot to ask the last couple months.

Connie just had a birthday and tried to hide it. Well, being the good friends that we are we just couldn't let this one go unnoticed. Let's meet up a Jasmine Seafood this Thursday April 6th to celebrate. Good food, good times, good people, and we get to learn about Chinese food / language / culture. Since Matt will be going to China next month he'll need all the help he can get.

Once again, we meet at 6:30 because supposedly this works for the most number of people. Also, most people just want to get some grub and have a good time by learning Chinese through osmosis, so once again we go to Chinese Dinner. Shanghai City! This event is FREE, but any donations to cover meetup fees are always welcome.

Hello everybody, This Wednesday is both Jon and Irene's Birthday!!! Since your organizer AND assistant organizer's birthdays both fall on the exact same day, we are having a birthday party! Everyone is welcome to come. We won't be focusing on learning Chinese at this meetup, but just come out to say hi and have some fun! We are not meeting at a Chinese restaurant, but for all you non-chinese people, just want to let you know its an ancient Chinese tradition to bring birthday cash inside of a red envelope. :) Hope to see everybody there! If you can't make it to Cheesecake Factory for dinner, we're planning to go to Farrells for ice cream after dinner! 10606 Camino Ruiz,San Diego,CA,92126 Phone: 858-578-9895 For more information, see http://www.sandiegor estaurants.com/detai ls.cfm?res_id=60
